A very fine and rare cased pair of English percussion 26 bore (about 14 mm) travelling pistols with bayonet, inserted ram rod under the barrel, made about 1840; Damascus original browned barrels marked CLOUGH & SONS, BATH; engraved cased-hardened frame and lock plate marked CLOUGH & SONS, (John Clough, son of George Clough worked in Bath, took the shop of his father about 1834 and turned to John Clough & Son from 1855-1861); Birmingham proof marks; cased-hardened side hammers; excellent chequered walnut grips with German silver escutcheons; in fitted original case lined in blue felt with fine accessories inter alia the correct fine and blued bullet mold marked 26 (bore); the interior of the lid with the original trade label.
(Delivery is restricted to persons being 18 years or older)

Condition: Very Fine condition 40-70 % of the original case-hardened fnish to the lock plate, frame and hammer, 60-80 % of the browned finish on the barrel, some small dings to the wood and abrasion of the felt. Powder flask has some dings, crisp action.
